CHIEN-LIN LU

Chien-Lin was born in Taipei, Taiwan and began his piano studies at the age of 7. He later came to the US and studied at Interlochen Arts Academy, Oberlin Conservatory, and San Francisco Conservatory. He recently completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts at University of Texas at Austin under the tutelage of Anne Epperson and Colette Valentine. Winner of Corpus Christi International Music Competition and Austin Critics Table Best Chamber Music Performance of the Year Award, Chien-Lin has enjoyed performing with other musicians ever since he started his musical studies. He has collaborated with artists such as Josef Spacek, Gerardo Rebeiro, Kikuei Ikeda, Patricia McCarty, Julia Lichten, and Donnie Ray Albert.

Chien-Lin has been a Collaborative Piano Fellow at Music Academy of the West for two summers and has served on staff at Meadowmount School of Music for three summers. In the summer of 2019, he returned to Music Academy as a Vocal Fellow to participate in the West Coast premiere of Jennifer Higdon’s opera Cold Mountain. He is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music in Collaborative Piano at IU Bloomington, Jacobs School of Music.
